Faced with more sophisticated processes, able to create a wider offering, tourists are urged to build their own vacation to “take an active role starting from the design and preparation stage”4 and to build a package by purchasing individual services. On one hand, this caused the crisis of the traditional system5, focused on the figures of the travel organiser6 and travel agent7, on which Directive 90/314/EEC was modelled8. On the other hand, this process has highlighted the risks deriving from the “depersonalisation and the plurality of parties with which the user is forced to come into contact when using computer-based tools”9.
