INTRODUCTION Tourism is a broad term that includes a wide variety of different businesses, each regulated by its own laws, regulations and policies. Besides more general laws and regulations for conducting business in Sweden, there are plenty of regulations and guidelines that the individual company must be aware of and adhere to. The hospitality industry is of great and growing importance for Sweden, with the total tourist consumption having increased substantially during the last 20 years, especially tourist export and foreign consumption. Unfortunately, the COVID-19 pandemic has had a significant impact on travel and tourism in Sweden, the same way as in all other countries. This paper will address some of the issues of importance for Swedish tourism, disregarding, however, the effects of the pandemic so as to describe Swedish tourism from a “normal” perspective. 1 Attorney at Law; Member of the Swedish Bar association; Konrad Advokater.
