This number is expected to grow to 29 million by 20304. Together with the growth of domestic tourism, this offers great opportunities for cities and regions, but at the same time creates bottlenecks in some places. The Dutch also like to go on holiday abroad. In 2020, the number of Dutch people going abroad dropped to 11.7 million. 11.2 million less than in 2019. However, in connection with COVID-19, the holiday in our own country has also gained popularity in the last two years.
