FRANCE | LAURENCE JÉGOUZO 163 d) Tourism engineering Tourism engineering: Taking over the prerogatives of ODIT France, Atout France has been given the task of carrying out tourism engineering operations. Its objective is to improve the competitiveness of the French offer in order to adapt to the demands of international tourism. The agency works alongside the State, local authorities and private partners or associations that are members of the group in the analysis, design and development of their tourism policy, their territorial strategies or their investment projects by providing expertise. It assists the various tourism actors in the search for operating or investment partners, especially in the context of tourism projects with a high development potential mobilising, as a priority, public-private partners for complex assembly processes mobilising several types of engineering. In addition, it contributes to stimulating innovation and product quality by monitoring the competition, analysing the economic situation and carrying out market studies related to sectors, destinations or customer segments. In general, the assistance focuses on defining the tourism potential of a site and a particular tourism sector, such as a cultural, leisure, business, wellness or fitness facility, pleasure boating, accommodation, event, etc. This assistance also aims to help draw up specifications for the mobilisation of additional expertise from consultancy firms, specific diagnoses (financial arrangements, legal strategy, websites and marketing strategy, development or urban planning considerations). e) Tourism marketing and promotion As part of its mission to carry out tourism marketing and promotion operations, the agency also assists its clients in their tourism marketing and promotion operations in France and abroad, in particular by providing expertise in tourism marketing, by promoting destinations and sectors such as those relating to the coast, the sea and the mountains, and by organising events such as communication campaigns, trade fairs, press trips, loyalty-building and partnership actions. f) Education In addition to the original missions described above, Atout France has a complementary mission relating to educate in the tourism industry. Through its Tourism Education Department, Atout France implements a series of actions on training, the aim of which is to make it coincide as closely as possible with the needs of companies in the sector, thus promoting the development of employment in the tourism sector.
