582 COMPETITION LAW IN TOURISM an API from Qantas as they don’t have their own technology platform. This is a little different for OTA’s and some are making noises to support the process. From AFTA, we took no action at all. That is to say we did not come out in support nor did we criticise – what we have said is that now QF have made their intentions known it is a commercial matter and as such not something AFTA can comment on directly. When IATA asks for support for NDC – I honestly don’t believe they know that they question actually means. How can a travel agent association support Resolution 787 anyway without knowing any details of how the agent would connect? Whatever the way the agent would connect, what would the commercial agreements be like, if in fact the content that will be sent from the airline was better and or if it would improve some aspect of the agency’s workflow? This is a mystery to me...” 3. Mr Andrew Olsen, CEO of the Travel Agents’ Association New Zealand (TAANZ), replied as follows: “TAANZ has adopted a neutral, but open minded position on NDC. We were involved from the outset with the IATA survey into agency views on NDC globally which also arrived at a similarly neutral position (convince the trade it works) and was very supportive of GDS being involved (status quo) and skirted wide of support because these are commercial decisions for airlines and agents to work through. The renewed global push might clear up how NDC will deliver to the trade but its evidentially pretty clear the NDC prop is still in its infancy, at least in this market.”. 4. Ms Eva Blasco, Deputy Chairwoman of the Association and International Relations of the Association, sent the following reply to the SpanishConfederation of Travel Agencies (CEAV): “(…) Thanks Marcelo for the very interesting information you provided us. There is not sense that IATA ask for the support of Travel Agencies Association, as our colleagues have mentioned. But in our case is a little bit different: we are not supporting NDC but we don´t have a neutral position. We have always an open minded position, but IAG is pushing the market with NDC and CEAV has to defend the interest of its members
